Rep Buddy 1.1

I am pleased to announce the Rep Buddy app, the assistant for Avon distributors, is updated and now available on the App Store.

This update has a revised scheduling system, replacing the period rota system with a more flexible week based rota system, which allows to set a round rota frequency to 3, 4, 6, or 8 weeks.

Existing users need to be aware that the update will require the rounds to be reset. Defined rounds need to have their frequency and next date set.

This change makes the app simpler and avoid confusion with new users and I am sure it to be a welcome improvement on the app.

Work in progress

It has been a while since the last update for Doing Windows. I want all users to know that I have been gradually working on version 3.0 for some time now.

There are good layout improvements already in place throughout the app and I still want to improve on the user experience at various points. There have been some requests from users I want to include also.

It will be a while before all is in place and well tested before I can prepare it for release on the App Store this year. I am also busy with other projects besides my weekly window cleaning work and the weather is too good to be sitting behind a computer for hours.

And, of course, you are always welcome to come up with additional suggestions for the upcoming version in the mean time, using the provided email link with the profile on the right.

Rep Buddy

The mobile assistant for the Avon Representative now available for iPhone and iPad on the Apple App Store.

Being a distributor and working with catalogues to advertise products and find new potential customers requires a system of organising all activities. Rep Buddy helps with doing that.

To see if this app is something for you, feel free to give it a go by starting the 14-day Trial. Read the description on the App Store to get an idea how it works. The app is pretty straight forward on how to set it up and get the system going.

If you are new to the way this type of app works and further explanation is needed you are welcome to contact me for help and support using this web site.

Enjoy working with Rep Buddy!

Bible Card Memory

Research has shown that most people can only hold about 5 to 9 items in short term memory. Memory tricks such as chunking can greatly extend this range, however.

The limit of human short-term memory is why phone numbers, credit card numbers, and other long sequences of numbers are often broken into smaller groups of 3 or 4 digits.

I like to mention the release of a simple memory game with Bible characters.

Many remember this game from old times. Turn cards over and try to match pairs in as few steps as possible. A relaxing memory exercise for all ages.

Choose between a 16 or 36 card game. (Suitable for the tablets there will also be the choice of 64 cards in the next update). The cards are shuffled with each game.

HOW TO PLAY. All the cards on the grid begin face down. Tap a card to turn it over. Try to find the second card that matches the first. If the second card does not match, both cards return to a face down position. If they do match, the cards remain as they are. Try to match all the cards on the grid in the fewest steps possible. The trick is to use your memory to remember the cards even when they are turned back over.

This card matching game helps train short-term memory. This type of memory is very important for problems solving and other tasks where you need to hold several pieces of information in mind at one time.

NWT Quizzer

The Bible Mini Quizzer is updated and is now called NWT Quizzer to emphasise it is based on the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures.

Version 1.3 includes four new challenging categories on top of the existing six categories, adding a new level to the Quizzer Challenge. Level 1 consists of questions about Bible characters. Level 2 adds to this with questions about culture and geography. Level 3 adds questions about scriptures, numbers, and the timeline of events. The new added level 4 adds to this with questions about events, animals, materials, and colours.

Adjustments have been made to the main screen to improve readability.

The Quizzer Challenge now pauses the countdown a few seconds to allow the player to read the question or listen to the question being read when the speech synthesiser is being used.

Doing Windows 2.2

I am happy to announce the availability of another feature update of the window cleaner assistant app. Besides having German localisation the following has been added:
  • Breaks. We all need a week off now and then. Any individual job or complete round that is finished is automatically scheduled by their repeat cycle and it just keeps going. You can now schedule an upcoming break in your planning. All automatically scheduled jobs and rounds will be moved automatically to accommodate the week(s) you are blocking for a holiday or other major event.
When you decide to cancel an upcoming break and delete it from your planning all jobs and rounds are moved back to the original schedule according to their repeat cycle.
  • Jobs per customer. You can now also view, add, edit, and delete jobs defined for a customer when viewing the customer. Since you can view the customer via the To Do list you can also access the job details from there. This will make all a lot easier to make adjustments quickly. You can still access the complete list of all jobs as this now can be found via 'More'.
  • Time duration. You can now specify the time you expect a job to take. This time will be displayed in the To Do list per job, as a total per round, and as a total per week.
This update is free of charge to all users who have bought a previous version of Doing Windows.

Doing Gardens

I am happy to announce the release of a new iOS business app, similar to the one for window cleaners, but going in a different direction.

Doing Gardens is kept as simple as possible and will benefit many gardeners who do garden maintenance for customers and want an easy way of keeping their schedule and track their customer payments.

Like with the other apps I would like to invite users to be open about their sincere suggestions for future improvements, as these help to make the app a better one with each update.
